They say parents shouldn’t pick favorites among their children. And when it comes to my FingerPaints “A Pair Affair” nail polish collection for Sally Beauty, the colors are like my children. Hell, they took much longer than nine months to birth. Regardless, I can’t help but be biased towards Our Tips Are Tealed. It’s my FAVORITE!!
Shh, don’t tell the other kids I said that. Oh right, they can’t hear me! Anyway, Our Tips Are Tealed is the total star of this nail polish show and, as proud as I am of all the shades in the collection, it has the strongest hold on my heart.
Its more grounded counterpart, Bare No Secrets, is chic and understated but with personality. See how they play off each other in a twist on the traditional French Manicure.
Formula & Application: FingerPaints is 5-Free and produced exclusively for Sally Beauty. The FingerPaints bottle is unique in that it’s kind of an oblong shape (remember The Oblongs) with a long, slender, slightly taped cap. The brush is long, thin and flexible. It reminds me of the old OPI brush which is probably why so many of us speculated that OPI made FingerPaints back in the day.
Both shades have a creamy texture that is easy to control. OTAT looks a bit thin on the first coat but after two coats, you have full coverage. It also dries a bit flat, with texture from the glitter, but perks right up with top coat. BNS is also well pigmented but may require three coats. I found that it isn’t the best at self-leveling so use care in application.
FingerPaints Bare No Secrets is a sandy tan with a hint of pink in its shimmery base. The cool base tone is evened out with flecks of gold glitter. Combined they make for a pretty universally flattering neutral with a kick of sparkle for fun.
FingerPaints Our Tips Are Tealed is a be-still-my-heart twinkling teal. It leans towards emerald but has its roots firmly planted in teal territory. Between the metallic foil flecks and sparkling traditional glitter, it’s one blingtastic party. Pictures really can’t do this color justice. It just leaps out at you from the bottle. Trust!
When I created each duo, I had a vision of how they would be worn together. For me, I always picture this set worn in a mani-pedi combination. Perfect for the woman who wants to keep it subdued and neutral on her hands yet have a party on her toes. Since I’m not about to visually harass you with my feet, this multi-colored manicure will have to do.
If you’re looking for a nail art idea to try. I like a Sideways French manicure with these shades. I originally thought teal French tips on the sandy base would be good but it just wasn’t feeling it as much as this. All you need is a French tip guide sticker to make it happen.
